Morley Cricket Club and how the weather can change in a weekend. From blustery hailstones on Friday to a bright spring day on Sunday. Friday was Don McGill’s birthday so every time 77 was called at bingo a chorus of Happy Birthday went up. Saturday Anne put on a buffet for Don and we tried a new quiz idea where you had to work your way across a Blockbusters type of grid with correct answers. It seemed chaotic but all enjoyed it and now we have got the hang of it we will be trying it again.
Thanks to Ann & Don for hosting.

Mexborough Athletic Club. This was a new venue for the group and the club officials went the extra mile to make us welcome with artistes on Friday and Saturday night in the concert room and even food laid on for our benefit on Saturday lunchtime. 19 vans attended, 18 Yorks and 1 N/C
Our Easter rally started on Friday with coffee and hot cross buns provided by our ladies then evening entertainment was free and easy with a music quiz with all the ralliers bursting into song at every intro. Saturday was a wet day but some still ventured into town, returning in time for the Tea dance and the evening entertainment, female vocalist Sly Fox. Sunday afternoon was games for the children with Chloe Dockery winning both the Egg and Cake decorating competitions. Gill Sanderson won the adult cake decorating competition. In the evening we had the Easter Bonnet parades which were won by Sarah Britton for the juniors and Yvonne Waller for the adults. This was followed by bingo which was checked by Ken in his own unique style and then entertainment by our very own Keith Howland who even managed to get Sid up twirling Elaine around the dance floor. Unfortunately Lenny’s duck went walkabout during the evening. Monday morning was coffee and presentations to the prize winners and the duck was seen flying round the room. In the evening we had a more restful time with chat and a Blockbuster type quiz before departing for home on Tuesday morning. 55 vans attended, 49 Yorks, 4 N/C, 1 E/Yorks and 1 E/M and we welcomed new members Tom and Dee Hardisty.
P.S. If Lucky the Duck reads this please contact Lenny as he misses you so much!
